How to trim a screen recording

Every screen recording starts with you clicking into the window and ends with you reaching for the stop button. Cut both off, and keep the text sharp: re-encoding blurs small text, a lossless trim doesn't.

Trim in four steps

  1. Open Framewave and drop the recording onto the page.
  2. Set the start where the demonstration begins (I) and the end just before the stop button (O). The arrow keys step one frame at a time.
  3. Export with Automatic: for MP4 and MOV it copies the video, so the text stays exactly as sharp as recorded.
  4. Save the file and share it.

Recorded as WebM?

Browser recordings are often WebM. A lossless WebM copy starts at the key frame before your start; choose MP4 in the export panel, or move the start onto a key frame with ↑ and ↓, to keep the copy lossless and exact.
